How did that feel chaps?

I’m gutted. All of my Arsenal pals are gutted.

Some pride was certainly regained yesterday in the 0-0 draw  at Old Trafford but there is always more than one side to a story. The mancs only needed a draw to win their 18th League Title. They know how to defend and whilst we had some chances to score – we didn’t manage to. If we had scored, it would have been a more interesting game for the spectator.

We played well I thought and whether it was the occasion that got to the mancs or us attacking them from the start they didn’t put us under too much pressure.

Ade got left at home and the beeb showed an interview with him blaming everyone else for his lazyness and inability to repeat last seasons hunger. I wish he would just come out and say ‘actually I’m not that good’.

After the euros Cesc came out and said ‘its a fantastic feeling, winning’ and ‘I want to win things with Arsenal’. How did it feel being there and hearing the whole of Old Trafford singing ‘Champions’? Is that going to spur our young players on to success. I hope their hearts were ripped out yesterday and put back with a small piece missing – that small piece will return when they too are on the winning side.

They won’t want to wait for two years – come on Arsene sort it out.

    Morning again

rasp – read through it and tell me if I’ve made any clangers before 100’s of people read it 😆

  2. Big Raddy says:

Well we disagree Peaches. And not all your Arsenal pals are ‘gutted’.

I am content with the game (see my last post). And even more pleased that Adebayor made his Declaration of Departure. As to him admitting that he “is not that good” …. Adebayor believes he is better than the team, you know he thinks it and AW knows it. We need to get rid.

This season we got what we deserved, decent Cup runs, and 4th. We didn’t show ambition last summer and paid the inevitable price. The positive being a “quasi” guarantee that AW will sign major players this summer.

  3. rico01 says:

    Morning Guys and Gals

I saw the Ade i/v too – and I felt a little sad for him, especially when he said about when his name and number gets called out before the game all he hears is boo’s – I am one of the first to say how poor he is right now, but how does anyone pick themeselves up at the start of the game after being singled out for jeering in such a way – having not gone to the games, I havent realised that was happening…

  4. peachesgooner says:

Raddy – I’m pleased you arn’t gutted – sorry to include in my maternal ramblings 😉 I agree that the team played well yesterday, but my overall feelings of hearing the Old Trafford crowd celebrating have made me feel very bitter.

Hi rico – how are you? I don’t think ade has been singled out for booing and jeering – unfortunately there has been a lot of disaffection this season and too much moaning out loud has gone on at home games.

I can’t imagine that he can hear booing when his name is called out because of the way the stadium announces the players – the home crowd are invited to shout out the surname of the player……

  5. peachesgooner says:

I have to pop out for an hour, see you in a bit 🙂

  6. rico01 says:

Hi peaches – Ade must be telling porkies then 😉

  7. Rasputin says:

Morning peachbums….Raddy….Hi Rico…long time no blog!

Good post peaches ….. gentle disagreement is a good thing 😉

I only saw the first half yesterday. I appreciate manu were playing with cautin and probably had another couple of gears if they needed to ‘up’ their game. Even so, we were winning 50:50 balls in midfield and we got 5 yellows…we showed drive and desire. 59% possession. That performance would have beaten 18 teams in the prem.

  8. rico01 says:

    Morning Rasp 🙂

  9. Rasputin says:

    cautin = caution

  10. Rasputin says:

    Hi again rico,

I’m disappointed that the spuds got another lucky late goal and now have a chance of european football. If we had beaten the mancs, pool would still have a chance of winning the prem and take totnum apart in their last game. As it is, even a draw could get the spuds into europe and ‘arry will become a totgod!

  11. Rasputin says:

Gibbs looked pretty good again and Song seems to be a more than adequate sub for a CB – he seems to work well with Kolo. What would we do though when the ACN is on?

  12. Big Raddy says:

Then there is Sagna who can play CB. But hopefully we will sign someone.

I agree wholeheartedly about the Sp*ds, but perhaps they will do the same as this season. Be thrilled with their Euro spot, and then play a reserve side in the tournament because their season is going tits up 🙂

  13. Rasputin says:

I hope Gallas stays Raddy, but suspect he will return to France in the summer. Sagna is too short for CB IMO. Hope fully MS will be let go, but I have a feeling he’ll be kept on as back-up (just hope he’s not needed)

  14. Rasputin says:

All very quiet in the blogosphere? – even the cross-bloggers are subdued 😛

  15. Big Raddy says:

I hope WG stays as well.

Sagna has a prodigious leap on him, and as Cannavaro proves , height is not everything., but I see your point.

  16. Rasputin says:

I like Sagna, but when is somone going to show him how to whip in a cross instead of floating the ball into the box – or, better still to fire it low across the face of the goal where all sorts of ricochets / tap-ins/ og’s are possible

  17. peachesgooner says:

There was a very bold question at the Q&A session about defending – whether Arsene had considered bringing someone like Keown to be a defensive coach.

The questioner pointed out a couple of occasions recently when too many players had been at the near post and none at the far post when corners were taken.

  18. Rasputin says:

Sounds like they need some organisation in the defence!

  19. kelsey says:

There are some disturbing reports coming out today about Wenger. Is the unthinkable going to happen.Reading the various tabloids he is quoted as if he is also leaving his options open.Is this all to do with finance or lack off.?Has Wenger abandoned his youth project ?
Reportedly there is little money to buy (13 million widely reported) but does that mean to get the 2 experienced defenders we need ,Ade and/or RVP will be sold.
Then there is the increase of shares bought by Kroenke. We can only guess, but I feel there is conflict at the club not only between the players but also between the boss and the board.
I am not speculating, but things just don’t sound right.

  20. Rasputin says:

    Hi kelsey,

I guess you’re referring to the report below listed on NN

“Arsene Wenger has admitted it would be “interesting” to work with Florentino Perez if the former Real Madrid president returns to the Bernabeu.”

I never know whether to believe this kind of thing. Sometimes its mischievious journalism or a story from months ago rehashed at a sensitive time.

I don’t want Arsene to go. I agree that the machinations at board level can’t be helping. So far I’ve read stories that we’ve got anything from 13m to 60m to buy players – but its not made clear if some of that revenue has to be raised by the sale of players! Brace yourself for a turbulent summer of rumour and hearsay 😦

  21. peachesgooner says:

Hi rasp – its awfully quiet around tnite

  22. Rasputin says:

True Peaches ……. there’s not much to say about the Arsenal now that hasn’t been said many times before is there? 😦

  23. Big Raddy says:

The Daily Mail started the £13m story. There are no sources and no quotes. It is fantasy.

AW said that “managing RM would be interesting to any manager”, which is true. It doesn’t mean that he has been offered or would take the job.

Rumour, hyperbole, agents “leaks”, all stock in trade to journalists who have to file copy, facts are an irrelevance. The only positive is that it gives us something to chat about !

  24. Rasputin says:

    Hi Raddy,

Its interesting that most football pundits claim to hate players who dive, brand them as cheats and call for stiff punishments – yet a journalist can invent stories with an equally dishonest motive and suffer no punishment.

They are clever enough not to break the laws of libel. Anything prefixed with “an undisclosed source” or “an insider close to the club” etc can automatically be dismissed as fabrication in order to create a headline.

  25. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Whats the chance that AW will swoop on targets quickly and get the transfers sorted early in the summerbreak?

We’ll be going nuts again if it gets left until the end of august.

  26. Rasputin says:

I’ll buy you a straight jacket for your birthday then peaches 😉

  27. peachesgooner says:

    Pink I hope 😆

  28. Rasputin says:

    To match Nikki’s boots?

  29. rico01 says:

Morning all, have to say I dont believe anything the paps write about us or our transfer kitty – what do they know, stuff like that just wouldnt be given to the press – well, maybe the Daily Star 😉

peaches – i think it will be very early transfers, and I think he knows them already, as he said he would buy but wont say who otherwise he will have to pay double –

Also, we have a busy summer of footie and early CL qualifiers to get through, my guess he will want the players in, fit and ready to go..

The season isn’t over but I am getting excited already about seeing our new signings in the red and white shirts, rather than the usual red and white babygrow’s

  30. Rasputin says:

    Hi-de-hi Rico,

I love your optimism, and why can’t it be true. There are no touraments to inflate the value of players on a handful of performances.

I think it is possible that we may hear of a player (you know who!) leaving before we sign anyone new. I often get caught up in the frenzy of interest in a player online.

Hangelaland has been talked about a lot, but I’ve never read anything coming from him or Fulham (who I hope will have European football next season instaed of s***s) to suggest they will sell him.

  31. Rasputin says:

Hangelaland = Hangeland (just less musical) 😳

  32. Big Raddy says:

I believe it is the agents who take the transfers to the deadline wire.

If there is the slightest possibility that they can earn more money from another buyer, or force a club to offer more wages, they will do it.

When you have an in demand product, brinkmanship is easy.

Poor Peaches, doomed to a pink straight-jacket

  33. rico01 says:

    Ho-de-ho Rasp,

You know, as each player is linked to us, I am going to forget them – in fact I wish I could do a Raddy, go away 😉

  34. Rasputin says:

Yes, I can see that you’re right Raddy. For a while it seemed that the ‘global financial crisis’ might force some sanity into football’s finances. I always percieve FIFA and UEFA as a sort of corrupt old boys club and unless they can be the driving force in reducing player power and agent power, nothing is going to happen.

  35. Rasputin says:

Its easy to release yourself from the angst rico – just stop caring about Arsenal 🙂 🙂 🙂 😳

  36. Irishgunner says:

    Morning Rasp

  37. rico01 says:

Oh yes Rasp, now how does one go about doing that please ???? 😉 😉 🙂

    Morning Irish

  38. Irishgunner says:

    Hi Rico 🙂

Those comments from AW seem familiar – by that I mean old.

And I think he said “any manager would find it interesting to work at Real Madrid”.

  39. Irishgunner says:

Although he is meant to be friendly with Perez – why is anyone’s guess….

Maybe he was sussing out a transfer?? Huntelaar?

  40. Rasputin says:

    Morning irish,

I was dissappointed with the side we fielded against Stoke last time, particularly when with all the tall players we still conceded from throw-ins, so I’d like to see us put out a side for the last game with all the mobile players and beat them playing our football instaed of trying to nullify their threat.

  41. Irishgunner says:

Did you see what Hull did??

They moved in the advertising hoardings so Delap couldn’t get a run-up, sounds like an idea??

  42. Rasputin says:

I so want Hull to go down. Their manager is completely out of his depth; believed his own hype and used us to defelect interest away from his own shortcomings. I didn’t see anyone from Barca get penalised for coming onto the pitch when they beat the chavs….

  43. rico01 says:

Hull v Manure last game, just hope Manure want to finish their epl season in style 😛

  44. Irishgunner says:

Hull will stay up I think that one point has done enough for them.

The fans and players are okay, its just Phil Brown that I despise.

  45. rico01 says:

    And his understudy Irish 😉

  46. peachesgooner says:

    Morning again

rasputin – you lucky Monk you’ve got all these girls to blog with………

rico and irish – did you get to see the Q&A session?

  47. Irishgunner says:

Oh that Horton guy, I forgot about him he’s so unimportant 😉

Peaches – no, its not on ATVO yet is it?

  48. Rasputin says:

    I’m not a celibate Monk you know …. 😉

Geovanni looks like a player who could play for a top four club if he was more consistent, but then so did Alves – must be something about Brazillians

  49. peachesgooner says:

Whatever my feelings have been about some the strange decisions Arsene has made during the past year I found that his passion for the club really shone through during the session – or else hes a very good actor……..

  50. Irishgunner says:

If Arsene leaves now he is one of two things:

    1) A great guy for carrying the can for the board and has just had enough

    2) A coward

  51. Rasputin says:

No, he cares deeply doesn’t he peaches…. it was etched in his face at the Q&A. He doesn’t hide his emotions very well when he’s on the bench either. The overriding message I get from him is one of frustration.

  52. peachesgooner says:

Irish – a coward!!!!!! And you a great Arsene supporter.

Hes not going anywhere – mind you I said that about Vieira……Henry……Flamini

  53. Rasputin says:

So if he stays Irish, is he the opposite of those two things? 🙂

  54. Irishgunner says:

Peaches – I mean that in the Roy Keane sense – running away when the going gets tough.

    Rasp – I think he’s great myself 😀

  55. peachesgooner says:

I agree rasp – I’m sure hes disappointed that some of the magic that he sees in training hasn’t materialised on the pitch.

Some of the younger players just havn’t stepped up this season as he would have expected…….but others have probably done better.

Who knows if Vela had had to be used more frequently – in the way that Gibbs has had to be – whether he would have pushed for more starts. He and Nikki had such a great understanding at the start of the season and then their pairing petered out 😦

  56. Irishgunner says:

I actually wasn’t shocked when Vieira and Henry left and Flamini – meh…

  57. Rasputin says:

I think like a lot of people, Arsene’s strenghts are also his weaknesses when not applied in the right context. Name me one brilliant person that does not also have significant flaws in their personality. He is undoubtedly single minded, stubborn, obsessed, innovative, and a whole lot more adjectives 😛

  58. peachesgooner says:

I think that he’ll have put himself under a huge amount of pressure over this past four years anyway.

I remember the feeling of relief when he got Henry to sign for another year – that saga had gone on for much too long.

If he goes now he’ll have been the scapegoat for the all the rubbish the board have spouted about money in the past three years.

I wish I had PR company – sometimes they all talk such rubbish

  59. Irishgunner says:

“Name me one brilliant person that does not also have significant flaws in their personality” – Phil Brown 😆

  60. Rasputin says:

He’s only brilliant in relation to the tango tan 😳

  61. rico01 says:

I havent seen it yet peaches, havent had ‘that quiet’ moment to watch it 😉

Arsene wont go just yet, but i still believe he has protected the board – but that is about to change with a few good signings in the next month or so.

Vieira – We have missed what he used to be like, rather than what he was like when he left – he was another perfect example of selling a player at the right time – Bobby disposessed him really easy in the CL game, and Bobby was never a tackler 😉

Ok, Henry is doing well, but would he be the same against some of the defences in the EPL ??
And Flamster and Hleb, well they are so good they are bench warming, serves the greedy buggers right aswell.

I dont honestly think we need any old players back, we need fresh new big strong winners to join us 😛

  62. Irishgunner says:

PHW and Fiszman should shut their gobs to be honest and stop saying “We have £30mil for one player if he wants it” then only to turn around and say “We have spent lots of money of Arshavin”…

    £17mil isn’t a lot of money PHW!!

  63. peachesgooner says:

Blimey all three of us girlies seem to agree on the money thing – how has that happened?

rico – did you tape the fans forum with Mr Arsenal – apart form his choice of knitwear he was a very good guest – and must have said three times that he can’t wait to be offered a job of some description at Arsenal 🙂

  64. Rasputin says:

PHW is the worst kind of ‘old fart’ He may have gone to Eaton, but he should never be let near a microphone because he is so out of touch with the fans….

  65. peachesgooner says:

I’ve stopped taking any notice of the ramblings from the board about money – all this he has the money to spend if he wants it was just a smoke-screen so that there wasn’t uproar from the supporters directed at the board.

They are the cowards if you ask me……

  66. rico01 says:

I didnt peaches – who is Mr Arsenal ??

    Dennis ?

  67. rico01 says:

    Maybe Tony 😛

  68. Rasputin says:

    It’s Donkey…..

  69. Irishgunner says:

    Peaches – my theory:

    1996 Arsene Wenger comes along:

Spends £22mil (back then money was money) on strengthening the squad with the likes of Vieira, Overmars, Petit etc in his first season and a half.

1999-2006: Spends bucks on Kanu (£4.5), Henry (£10.5), Lauren (£7mil), Pires (£6mil), Wiltord (£13mil), Edu (£6mil), Van Bronkhorst (£8.5), Reyes (£12.5), Hleb (£10mil) etc etc

    2006 – New Stadium

No signing over £10mil till this season when Nasri and Arshavin came.

Also on Monaco – did they not enter financial difficulty too when he decided to go down the youth route?

  70. peachesgooner says:

Being out of touch with the fans is something that was discussed on friday night – can’t remember if it was fans forum or Q&A – I’ll have a look again later.

Irish – it looks like the Q&A session isn’t on the scheduling for arse tv…….strange that…..

  71. Irishgunner says:

    Darn it ….

Was his “rant about the home fans” as bad as ahem “some” have made out?

  72. peachesgooner says:

So the 6 million dollar question is Which came first?

Board – We have no money for you to spend.

Arsene – Don’t worry I’ll build a team of kids they won’t cost as much to assemble.

Arsene – I’ve been a genius so far so now I’m going to test my powers by building a championship winning side using just kids.

  73. Irishgunner says:

I’m still of the thought that he doesn’t want to win with kids.

Out of who we have now (regardless of Adebayor staying or going) and if we had a fully sit squad can you name me the side that AW would put out if we played tomorrow.

So Rosicky, Gallas, Eduardo are all injury free and include the subs as well.

  74. peachesgooner says:

The programme had been heavily edited…..but this is the gist of what was seen

Q – I go to all the away games and it would be nice if the team came to recognise the support of the away crowd. Often only 2 or 3 players come over to us.

A – The away support is fantastic and I’m sorry if the players don’t come over to recognise you in that way. Some times when we have lost, the players are ashamed and don’t want to stay on the pitch.

I’ll have to look at it again to see how much was then said about the home v the away support…….

  75. rico01 says:

I think its from the board, they have told Arsene – ‘No money chum, you wanted all these new facilities, so now you have got them, in the meantime, you can tighten the purse strings, use kids and take the flack for a couple of years’

Now though Stan and Ollie have things in hand – they have said, Oi Arsne, we are sick of watching the kids lose at the final hurdle, heres a few pounds, spend it wisely this summer, and give the fans something to cheer about ‘

    😉 😛

  76. peachesgooner says:

Thats really hard Irish – you want to assume Rosicky, Gallas and Eduardo are fit….

    Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy

    Rosicky Cesc Song Nasri

    Arshavin Robin

subs Theo, Eduardo, Nikki, Denilson, Djourou

  77. peachesgooner says:

    Exactly rico – I’m with you 100% on that 🙂 🙂 🙂

  78. Rasputin says:

Or even Arshavin and Eduardo up front – Eduardo is a much better header of the ball than RVP

  79. peachesgooner says:

But the upsetting part is why does it take Stan and Ollie to say those things to make the change?

Surely Danny and co, who also have money, and who have been Gooners for most of their lives could have dipped into their small change earlier.

    Thats the conundrum for me……..

  80. peachesgooner says:

I’m I the only one playing this game 😦

Have we ever seen Eduardo play 90 minutes? I can’t remember – had he played 90 before his injury?

  81. kelsey says:

our net spending last Summer was under 4 million, which included the sale on amount we got for Bentley.

I don’t think AW is a liar but I think the truth is somewhat twisted. One minute he bleets on about how young our team is,then he now admits we need quality in defence, yet two weeks ago he said he didn’t want to disrupt the progress of Song,Denilson,Eboue etc.The reality is that we have won only 2 of our last 7 games.

Do we know if Eduardo and Rosicky will be the same as they were so long ago.
The close season is barely 2 months and how much improvement can these young players show in that time, when most have played too much this season.

My take is that if we are taken over, whoever it it wants to boost the brand image worldwide, and this present squad will not achieve it through lack of real leadership, too many squad players and far too many injuries.

Wenger has said already at the beginning of the season if he was given a 100 million he wouldn’t spend it.

Quite honestly i don’t know what to believe anymore, but the 2 big players are not buying up shares for no reason.

  82. Irishgunner says:

    Almunia – 32

    Sagna -26 Toure -28 Gallas-32 Clichy-23

    Rosicky-28 Cesc-22 Song-21 Nasri-21

    Arshavin-27 Robin-25

    subs, Fabianski-24 Theo-20, Eduardo-26, Nikki-21, Denilson-21, Djourou-22, Adebayor-25

  83. Rasputin says:

With the bench you’ve listed peaches, I would expect all 3 subs to be used and none of the strikers to play 90 minutes every game.

  84. kelsey says:

conundrum, that,s the word I was looking for.

How many Pl starts has vela had.Answer is one.
Why was jack dismissed to the reserves back in january?

  85. kelsey says:

    Morning Rasputin,you sex machine 😉

  86. Irishgunner says:

Kelsey – Wilshere’s form apparently dropped hugely so Wenger wanted him back playing in the youth sides and reserves and he also has had a few knocks.

  87. kelsey says:

The media over here are saying Wenger met Perez in Paris last week. Was that about RVP or what ?

  88. rico01 says:

    My team would be

    Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy

    Nasri Cesc Song Thomas

    Arshavin Eduardo

Subs – Theo Fabianski Simpson Merida Djourou Vela Ayling

  89. Rasputin says:

    Morning kelsey 😉

I’m a Ramsey fan, but he’s only been on for the odd ‘cameo’ since the Cardiff game. Hopefully he’ll feature more next season.

  90. Irishgunner says:

Apparently Wenger is off to Madrid himself Kelsey

  91. Irishgunner says:

All I was trying to prove with my team selection is when fully fit we aren’t “kids” apart from midfield perhaps and on the subs bench – so we are half kids, I’ve not proven much 😕

  92. rico01 says:

peaches – I just have a feeling that Stan and Ollie wont take losing anymore, and this is their first year – i think we are in for a treat 😉

  93. rico01 says:

    Irish – thats funny 😉

  94. Rasputin says:

I take your point about the ages Irish – they’re not kids. Maybe just a lack of power/muscle in key areas. Cesc is definitely putting himself about more these days and Song is strong. How would you feel about a Yaya/Cana in amongst that midfield mix?

  95. Irishgunner says:

Yes please – I say we should go for Lorik Cana, he may be more attainable and cheaper and he is a nutter 😈

  96. rico01 says:

Ah, Yaya for me, if Barca are will ing to sell him, I think we would be top of his England list – but if not, I could settle for Cana 😉

  97. kelsey says:

sadn ews the baby boxer from our urbanisation has not been treated well, and my wife has been taking him out for walks and then he comes over to our house and plays with my lot.

the other night the owners left the gate opened and he ran out and was killed by an oncoming car,we are both devastated.People really shouldn’t have animals if they haven’t got the time to give them.

  98. kelsey says:

Our squad is too lightweight to buy more African players because of the ANC, IMO

  99. Irishgunner says:

Sorry to hear about the dog Kelsey 😥

  100. peachesgooner says:

Irish – you havn’t mentioned Benzema yet today 😆

  101. peachesgooner says:

Isn’t it funny how we’ve all put Song in alongside Cesc ………..

  102. Rasputin says:

Cana it is then kelsey! Sorry to hear about the pup…hope it didn’t suffer.

More stuff on NN about Ade going to AC….. but only for £15m

  103. Irishgunner says:

    Ha ha ha Peaches

Well he’s only 21 and will only get better and better and better 😀

  104. Rasputin says:

He wouldn’t be there if Cana was in the squad (except when he’d been red carded!)

  105. rico01 says:

kelsey – i am really sorry to hear that, it’s so very sad. and i hope those owners are never to keep another animal, it makes me livid…

  106. rico01 says:

Rasp, thats 14.5M over what he is worth 😉

  107. Irishgunner says:

Rico – More kittens, you want some??

  108. peachesgooner says:

rasp – why don’t you bring the link back with you after you’ve been on NN 😉

  109. rico01 says:

Irish – we would love to, but sadly it would be cruel for us to have a cat because the road we live on even though its a B Road with a 30mph limit, idiots va va voom through – it would be like signing its dead warrant.. 😦

Thank you though, and I hope you find good homes for them all – i bet they are so cute

I love them though, and one day…….

  110. peachesgooner says:

rico – I forgot to answer your question earlier – it was Tony Adams on fans forum, wearing a very strange pale blue cable knit jumper over a pink paisley shirt – and we think Tom Watts has strange taste 🙂

  111. Irishgunner says:

Haven’t found them yet Rico – the mother went off and had them in a ditch somewhere around our house and I’ve tried following her but she’s too clever….

    We already have 7 – think that’s enough 😀

  112. Irishgunner says:

Oh Also we are getting chickens again – not had them in years 🙂

  113. peachesgooner says:

What would the lowest figure be that we should accept for Adebayor?

    I’d say £10m……..

  114. Irishgunner says:

Yep £10mil but that is probably too low, maybe a cash plus player deal??

Read on a rumour mill today that Silvestre as a swap for Sakho?? Sounds too good.

  115. Rasputin says:

I’d take Tweety Pie for Sylvestre 😛

  116. rico01 says:

Irish – that is so funny, reminds me of when I was a young one, we had a female stray cat who decided she would home herself in our stable – she was really wild and wouldnt come into the house – one day she was huge, the next day back to being a slim one, and we used to hunt far and wide ( well in the garden, we were young) to find the kittens – happy memories 🙂

Chicken – wow, didnt think you would go there again, thats fab, have you chosen them yet etc etc, bet you can’t wait 😛

  117. rico01 says:

Id swap Silvestre for a bag of potato’s 😉

  118. rico01 says:

    Rasp – 😛

  119. Irishgunner says:

Funny thing-same thing happened us with the stray we took in, now she is tame enough and rules the roost ha ha she owns our house 🙂

Haven’t picked the chickens yet – have to build an area for them again and put the wire further down into the ground this time so the minks can’t get in. Maybe in the next fortnight.

  120. peachesgooner says:

If Ancelotti stays at AC Milan that could leave the door open for Flamini to return in some sort of exchange deal with Adebayor……..

    …….I know I know Arsene doesn’t go back…….

  121. Irishgunner says:

I’d swap Silvestre for A potato;)

  122. Rasputin says:

You’ll have to go for Rhode Island Reds Irish…… you can put on the white bits with tipex 😉

  123. Irishgunner says:

Wenger nearly went back for Anelka, thing is Flamini was dishonest, kept telling Wenger he’d stay but left anyway.

  124. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha ha Rasp I’ve no idea what types of chickens there are – as long as they lay eggs for my breakfast I’m happy 🙂

  125. peachesgooner says:

    Sorry I didn’t notice you two were having a chicken/kitten love-in 🙂

I’m not fond of cats I’m afraid – my neighbour breeds Burmese Blues, they are absolutely beautiful and when my kids were young each new batch of kittens ended up in my house at some point…….her cats are always in my house cos I leave the back door open in the summer and they wander in and go upstairs to sit on any bed they can find 😦

  126. Irishgunner says:

    I love cats.

They are not allowed indoors under any circumstances, well apart from the oldest one – Jo – she opens the doors and comes in for meat when we are having dinner but that’s it. She’s spoilt really ha ha.

Our garden shed is stacked full of cat nuts and tinned food.

  127. Irishgunner says:

Interesting read and kind of backs up what you have been saying Peaches.

  128. Rasputin says:

You don’t need me on here peachbums (no offence if you haven’t seen me use that term before!) …… I’ll check back in a couple of hours. Just read your link Irish and it has left me slightly worried 😕

  129. peachesgooner says:

Irish – we must have been reading that at the same time 🙂

Why are you worried rasp? Tell us later if you’ve gone 🙂

  130. peachesgooner says:

Weird – 100 hits in the last 10 minutes!!!!!!

  131. rico01 says:

Talking of chickens – off to clean our ours 😦

    Catch you all soon

  132. peachesgooner says:

    See you later rico 🙂

  133. Rasputin says:

Still hovering Irish….. Arsene’s words seemed to be carefully chosen so as to send out a secondary message….hopefully not so much to the fans but more to the Board as the article states. I think he has to work with people he respects and I get the feeling that he has been hung out to dry a bit lately.

  134. rico01 says:

That link backs my cunning theory 😉

  135. Irishgunner says:

I think so too Rasputin – In this day and age trying to work with kids, on a budget with the expectation to win trophies isn’t going to happen.

Strangely Dunphy and Giles have been saying it for weeks on Irish tv, that the board are liars and AW is working on a budget.

  136. peachesgooner says:

….but Real Madrid represents everything that we assume Arsene doesn’t like about modern day footballing culture – gathering of superstars, spending oooooodles of money, not having control of his destiny……..Its flattering for him to be asked but it wouldn’t be home to him – I hope 🙂

  137. peachesgooner says:

I’VE BEEN SAYING IT FOR MONTHS – NO-ONE BELIEVED ME EITHER……well maybe a couple of people who held the same opinion

  138. Rasputin says:

Arsenal has always had a strong link with Irish support, is it just because we’ve had great Irish players, or because there are a lot of Irish folk around the Kilburn area – or is there another reason for it. By the way, its about time we had another good Irishman in the side…can you recommend anyone? 😛

  139. Irishgunner says:

Thing is Peaches this would happen:

    1) He would already have agreements in place with the Real board about how he can operate

    2) Part of that would be him over transfer policy

    3) We have already seen when he created the invincibles what he can do when given money

    4) Real Madrid plus Arsene Wenger are very hard to resist for any footballer

    5) His main aim may be to show the Arsenal board what he could do had they backed him with money

  140. Irishgunner says:

Rasputin – I think a lot of Irish support came in the 70s and 80s from the likes of Stapleton, Brady, O’Leary and even the Northern boys like Rice and Jennings playing for the club.

I’m sure the Irish diaspora living in London had a lot to do with it too.

In recent years I have met some Arsenal fans who had followed football but not really supported a team and then just started following Arsenal because of Wengerball.

As for Irish players – Shay Given (missed out), Richard Dunne (has been great under Il Trap), Stephen Ireland, Kevin Doyle, James McCarthy (robbed him off the Scots ha ha)

  141. Irishgunner says:

Why do I always end up in moderation ❓ 😆

  142. Rasputin says:

Irish… Peaches is being a bit over-zealous in her banned words, forgetting that they also have their original meaning 😉

Doesn’t O’leary hold the record for most appearances and obviously Bradey had the best left foot of all time. Perhaops we should get Jack Charlton in for manager 😆

  143. Irishgunner says:

O’Leary and Brady both had a falling out with Big Jack if I remember correctly…

O’Leary does indeed have the most appearances and for Ireland he scored THAT penalty 😀

  144. peachesgooner says:

Sorry Irish – I can’t see why that comment would have gone into moderation – good thing my fairy was in attendance 🙂

  145. peachesgooner says:

    Found it 😳

  146. Irishgunner says:

😆 Rasputin are you the helping fairy?

  147. Rasputin says:

I’m off for a bit too, hope there’s plenty to get my teeth into when I get back…….

  148. peachesgooner says:

Irish – I have to go out for a while, catch up later 🙂

  149. Rasputin says:

    Moi? 😛

  150. Irishgunner says:

    Oui 😀

  151. Irishgunner says:

See ya later Peaches, I’ll be on the internet for a while – too wet to go out

  152. rico01 says:

Irish – still talking chicken, have a pop onto the Girlie Bits on Avenell Road, you will see ours 😉

  153. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha I will do Rico, although they all look the same to me 🙂

Their new house is being built as we speak.

  154. rico01 says:

That is so exciting, we have one of the Omlet Eglu’s, oh and a fenced in bit which they have trashed!! It used to be known as a lovely vegetable patch 😉

  155. Rasputin says:

Irish…I know a place where you can get chickens going cheap…. 😀

  156. kelsey says:

if Ade scores 10 goals against Stoke you win the long standing bet 🙂

  157. rico01 says:

Rasp -i sure hope you are not going to say Tesco 😦

  158. Rasputin says:

No rico, it was a worse joke than that…. maybe I should have said “cheap cheap” … I’d never upset a veggie 😉

  159. rico01 says:

    Slap wrist Rasp 😉

  160. Rasputin says:

That’s not easy to say quickly 😛

  161. rico01 says:

    Mmme – slapwistwasp 😉

Oh to be Jonathon Woss 🙄

  162. Rasputin says:

I’d pwefer to be Ruffell Bwand 👿

  163. rico01 says:

    Rasp 😉

Oh, and hands up who would like to kick Eva in his French Boules 😉

But I do love this link

  164. Irishgunner says:

    Where Rasp??

  165. rico01 says:

Ah, Eva is meant to be Evra …..

Now I have been put in the sin bin 👿

  166. Irishgunner says:

    Wossy is funny 😀

  167. Rasputin says:

  168. rico01 says:

rasp – canyou take my comment out of moderation please 😦

Irish – mme, Wuss is better for Woss 😉

  169. kelsey says:

Changing the subject completely, one must hand it to the WBA fans singing their hearts out as they got relegated and even the chavs were quite loud yesterday.i wish we could drum up that atmosphere at home.

  170. peachesgooner says:

    Is it silly time 😉

  171. peachesgooner says:

Why are you in moderation rico?

  172. Irishgunner says:

Apparently someone has put up a petition for AW to stay…. I don’t think that is really needed to be honest.

  173. Irishgunner says:

Kelsey – I like WBA, a bit gutted they went down, hope they come back up again soon.

  174. Rasputin says:

Peaches – why do you keep putting poor Irish in moderation? It’s like the KGB (not AKB 😉 ) run this site…

  175. peachesgooner says:

Sorry rico – I don’t know why that was in moderation – its out now 🙂

    Wheres the petition irish?

  176. Rasputin says:

Oops it wasn’t Irish it is rico – I’ve just said I wouldn’t upset a veggie and you go and compost her…. 😆

  177. rico01 says:

Rasp – Irish in moderation, what about me you old git 😉

  178. peachesgooner says:

It wasn’t irish, it was rico this time and I don’t know why – have a look at her comment, see if you can see why 4.36

  179. Irishgunner says:

On Arsenal Insider but I can’t log on for some reason – maybe its backed up with well wishers 😉

  180. kelsey says:

you have to admire tony Mowbray,

he has tried to play open attacking football all season(a rarity for a newly promoted club0 but their defence was another matter.I hope they come back up soon, as well.

  181. peachesgooner says:

rasp – you’re gonna get me a bad name, blaming it all on me 😦

  182. Irishgunner says:

Sometimes links go into moderation if that helps

  183. Rasputin says:

Sorry rico – case of mistaken chickenhandler 😕

  184. kelsey says:

french boules is a poor man’s bowls ;)at 4.36

  185. peachesgooner says:

    Thanks irish 😉

I just spoke to a young gooner who told me in no uncertain terms that I have to stick up for Arsene at every opportunity 🙂

  186. Irishgunner says:

Kelsey – I very much admire him for that and WBA but maybe he could have tweaked it slightly to try and keep them up (not that he wasn’t trying).

Sadly the Stoke’s are always going to stay up before the WBA’s,

  187. Irishgunner says:

Are you going to the game on Sunday Peaches?

  188. kelsey says:

I think this site has got groin strain Madam Peaches,it takes forever to submit.

  189. peachesgooner says:

    Careful kelsey 🙂

If it takes too long to submit, press F5 and it goes through quicker 🙂

  190. rico01 says:

    kelsey 😦

  191. kelsey says:

    my last comment disappeared

  192. peachesgooner says:

kelsey – What was the bet you and raddy had?

  193. peachesgooner says:

Irish – I’m gutted that I’m going to have to miss the last game – I might have to go to the Final part 1 of the youth FA cup on friday evening just to get a fix 🙂

The son of a good friend is getting married and she suddenly was given extra invitations – stupidly I didn’t think quickly enough and said I had football to which she replied ‘don’t be so stupid’

  194. Irishgunner says:

Agh darn it that’s unfortunate – I was going to fly over but will wait for the Emirates Cup instead I think.

  195. kelsey says:

peaches the bet was that adebayor wouldn’t score 20 league goals this season.the prize was a week at my abode in the rain.

  196. peachesgooner says:

…and if you win the bet……he comes anyway 🙂

  197. kelsey says:

knowing his background you are probably right. All the hendonites are the same 🙂 (is that allowed)

  198. kelsey says:

i just looked up Limerick, population only 90000 on the river mike shannon, is that right.

  199. peachesgooner says:

    The Emirates Cup.

Traditionally – well last two years anyway – the sunday has offered a top european team playing against Arsenal to attract supporters to this competition. This year we have Rangers 😦

Are you going to come for the whole weekend irish – you could see 4 games of football!!!!

  200. rico01 says:

Irish – I would love to go to the Emirates Cup too, may look into to getting a ticket or two 😉

  201. Irishgunner says:

Yep that’s it Kelsey – I live in the rural part now with my parents, but that is the city alright, probably more a town to you ha ha

  202. peachesgooner says:

    ‘hendonites’ is fine kelsey 🙂

  203. Irishgunner says:

Peaches/Rico – Yep was thinking of going for the full weekend. My sister is finishing school as well and she wanted to go off on holiday with her friends but my parents won’t let her so I said she could come with me if she likes and we could do the West End and shopping and that, and she could come to a game if she likes.

She used to support Arsenal but only because I did but she knows all the answers to questions, I have thought her well 😀

  204. rico01 says:

Irish – then you are a mighty fine teacher 😛

  205. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha its not that hard to teach why Arsenal are by far the best the world have ever seen

  206. peachesgooner says:

rico – when I go behind the scenes the avatars are much bigger and your guinea pig looks so cute 🙂

  207. Irishgunner says:

I’m in this picture – see if you can find me 😉

  208. rico01 says:

Irish – 3rd row back, wearing red, just left of the centre, I saw you 😉

  209. rico01 says:

peaches – I never knew that, see, you could learn to love guinea pigs 😉

  210. peachesgooner says:

    I found you, I found you 😉

  211. Rasputin says:

Is that you swaying holding a bottle of cider Irish 😉

  212. Rasputin says:

    Where’s Wally?

  213. Rasputin says:

You should know better than to open yourself up for this kind of friendly abuse Irish 😆

  214. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha ye are good 😀

If you see Abracadbra on the left, the building next to that (O’Mahony’s bookshop 😀 ) I’m in there and was actually wearing navy cos I didn’t have the red shirt ha ha.

That was in 2006 when Munster beat Toulouse, 10,000 people on the street – immense day and we won horrah

  215. peachesgooner says:

rasp – any chance of you getting an avatar?

  216. Irishgunner says:

Can’t abuse me Rasp, I have no feelings 😉

  217. kelsey says:

irish, easy to spot you, but can you name all the other people in the picture.Same prize as for Raddy. 🙂

rico, had you considered she might be preganant. Not irish the guinea pig.

Poor old raddy he is still in school, and ranieri just got sacked (again)

  218. peachesgooner says:

Sigh……don’t you just love sporting celebrations – Arsene?

  219. peachesgooner says:

ranieri – I love ranieri, maybe Phil Brown’ll get sacked and he can go to Hull 😆

  220. rico01 says:

    kelsey – she was not..

  221. Irishgunner says:

    Kelsey of course.

3,500 of them are called Mary.
2,500 of them are called Paddy.
1,000 of them are called Seamus.
1,500 of them are called Sheila.
500 of them are called Murphy.
500 of them are called Sean.
450 of them are called Jackie.
50 of them are called Pavel.

    When can I come 😉

  222. Rasputin says:

I’m not clever enough to get an avatar 😦 Anyway, where could I get a picture of Cesc holding the Champions League Trophy?

  223. Irishgunner says:

We are the sporting capital of Ireland Peaches so celebrate a lot … except hurling and football, can’t win the All – Ireland at all 😦

  224. peachesgooner says:

I bet raif could mock one up for you 🙂

  225. Irishgunner says:

    Next year Rasputin 😉

  226. kelsey says:

You are getting a bit smart for me irish 😉

  227. Irishgunner says:

    😆 Kelsey

  228. peachesgooner says:

I took my singing daughter to the parade in Upper Street in 2002 when we did the double, it was so exciting. We decided that we had to buy a flat in Upper St because all the roof gardens and terraces were filled with gooners and we thought we’d be having parades every year 🙂

  229. kelsey says:

just under 130 hits to get to 2000.well done peaches and co.

  230. rico01 says:

peaches – i went to the game against west ham at highbury ( when wh had a good goal not given even though it was over the line ) Ranieri was in our big boys box alongside the couple i went with, i was not too far away – The lady i went with sat next to him and she said he was the most wonderful charming man ever – i did the programme he signed, but i think its in the bin by now

  231. Rasputin says:

Actually I’ve already gone into print and predicted that AA will help us lift a trophy next season…..

  232. Irishgunner says:

They’ll be a massive party if Ireland qualify for the World Cup in 2010 – any old excuse we get its party and parade time 🙂

When Ken Dorthery won the snooker world championship years ago, half a million lined the streets of Dublin to welcome him back – is that normal?

  233. rico01 says:

Wenger: It was important for our pride
    Dear Supporter,

I believe we played with a lot of heart and desire at Old Trafford on Saturday.

When we played Manchester United in the Champions League I think we were inhibited a bit by the occasion – it was too big perhaps – and in the second leg we had no chance to play the game. On Saturday we showed we have the quality and we played with a lot of authority on the pitch.

Man United like to play on the counter-attack and I felt we were much sharper on winning the ball back but I regret that we couldn’t score the goal that would have livened the game up – it would have forced them to come out. In the last 20 minutes they made a change to play for a 0-0 with Park coming on for Tevez.

We saw Man United celebrating and hopefully that will inspire us to emulate them. The quality is there as well and you saw that on Saturday. At the moment my team doesn’t get the credit it deserves and it is down to us to show the same consistency. It is not a victory today but it was very important for our pride.

Deep down you want to be out there celebrating. They were the better team this year and congratulations to them. As for Sir Alex Ferguson, his is an exceptional achievement and I say congratulations to him. It is fantastic what his team have done this year. The overall achievement is remarkable.

Let us make sure the celebrations are on our side next year. In sport things can change quickly and what we have shown is that we have the quality to be up there. We have to keep the belief and work very hard.

My team have learned a lot and we were not far. Since November we have lost just one game. We were close in the Champions League and the FA Cup, and were remarkably consistent.

    Thanks for your support.

    Arsène Wenger

  234. Rasputin says:

I wouldn’t want to take Irish on at Scrabble ….. I’ve never seen ‘diaspora’ on a blog site 😳

  235. Irishgunner says:

“Let us make sure the celebrations are on our side next year” – Yes please Arsene.

  236. kelsey says:

    actually rico,
you reminded me of another game against WH at highbury when WH had a stone wall goal not given,it had clearly crossed the line. But age has descended quicker than I thought and I don’t remember the year. Not that long ago,say in the last 10 years.

  237. kelsey says:

    i am going mad,
apologies rico you had said what I had just written.

  238. Irishgunner says:

I wonder will we see Adebayor on Sunday or will his “injury” continue?

  239. peachesgooner says:

This could be a good game – how many groin strains will we have next season?

  240. rico01 says:

Rasp – thats quite funny, and yet quite sad, yet if you exchange the word ethnic to Arsenal, its so true, especially in the football blogging world 😦

    Hope that makes sense 😦

  241. Rasputin says:

    Perfectly rico….

kelsey…have you been having too much of the three S’s associated with living in Spain 😉

  242. peachesgooner says:

The thing about diasporas is that the people always have a sense of belonging to that group 😦

Thats probably much too deep 😆

  243. kelsey says:

I don’t live in Spain,I live in Hartlepool.

  244. rico01 says:

they do peaches, but that sense of belonging can at anytime be challenged by someone elses behaviour, and then that person can at any time feel so very much removed from their belonging – yes very deep, but we as a human race never really know just what affect we can have on others…..

My folks always taught me to live by one rule before I opened my mouth to speak…

    Is it true
    Is it kind
    is it necessary

  245. peachesgooner says:

    Best laid plans rico 😆

  246. Rasputin says:

To quote Groucho Marx’s Irish cousin …. I refuse join any diaspora that would have me 🙂 .. although I prefer… “women should be obscene and not heard” …. ouch, I’m running away in case any of the peachettes want to hit me with their Knobkerries

I’m wending my weary way home … catch up later I hope… have fun

  247. kelsey says:

I was thinking the same thing irish. Will ade play against Stoke or not.

  248. Irishgunner says:

I’m not sure Kelsey – he must have did something behind the scenes for AW to leave him out. Wenger wouldn’t drop him just because of fan unrest.

  249. Rasputin says:

Before I go rico, your example reminds me of Bart Simpsons three excuses…..”I didn’t do it, no one saw me do it, there’s no way you can prove anything!” … but far less profound of course

  250. rico01 says:

Rasp – Now I just love that – top top comment 😛

  251. peachesgooner says:

rasp – we were being serious, go home and find an avatar – ask George 😆

  252. Rasputin says:

I’ll look for your answer when I get home Irish, but do you know if it was just Lehman’s couple of cock-ups that led AW to make Almunia his No.1 or was there another reason?

  253. Rasputin says:

    Sorry peaches 😳 I’m gone …..

  254. Irishgunner says:

I don’t know the answer Rasputin but for me Lehmann had only made two blunders and if that is why he was left go its a bit harsh. However, I am sure Lehmann was not one to hold his tongue.

Having said that, I think he conducted himself well once he got dropped, did the job when asked and celebrated and acted like one of the team.

  255. peachesgooner says:

I think Arsene was ready to give Almunia a run in the team and Lehman’s errors speeded up his decision – also there was a lot of animosity between the two of them and maybe that needed to be put to bed too by giving Manuel his chance.

  256. Irishgunner says:

    I like Lehmann – nutter 😀

  257. rico01 says:

Ah, now I disagree guys – Lehmann was a liability, remember the penalty he ‘gave’ to the spuds, keane scored for the draw! he was such a big man, yet (to use an earlier word) what a Wuss 😉

  258. Irishgunner says:

He drove opposition fans crazy with his theatrics

  259. Rasputin says:

The thing that used to wind me up about Lehman was that he would insist on rolling the ball out to defenders who were running away from goal, often not even looking and with the opposition strikers bearing down on them. We conceded quite a few goals that way. I know we like to keep possession and build from the back, but there was also nothing wrong with the Seaman

  260. Rasputin says:

The thing that used to wind me up about Lehman was that he would insist on rolling the ball out to defenders who were running away from goal, often not even looking and with the opposition strikers bearing down on them. We conceded quite a few goals that way. I know we like to keep possession and build from the back, but there was also nothing wrong with the Seaman boot, Ian Wright couple of touches and bosh… in the back of the net approach once in a while. Not very Wengerball though. That sleazebag Robbing Keane scored one against us like that last season.

  261. Rasputin says:

I’m sufffering from deja vu of the keyboard. Apologies folks if I’m giving you double vision. 😦

  262. Irishgunner says:

The Seaman?? – hoof the ball?

  263. Rasputin says:

    What am I saying???? 😳

Well you can hoof the ball when you’ve got a ponytail…….

  264. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha what are you saying Rasputin? 😆 have you snuck a drink in the last while 😆

  265. Irishgunner says:

“I think I speak on behalf of every Arsenal fan when I tell you this Mr.Perez, If you try to get our Professor, we will kill you.” 😆 ha ha woah

  266. kelsey says:

I have just been surfing the net,and one would think that Arsenal had just been relegated.

Two main stories Ade and Wenger.Having read the full transcript of Wenger’s interview with l’equipe and also other tabloids here in Spain,it emerges that Wenger’s contract expires this summer with a roll on agreement until 2011.

No one knows the truth but I tend to think the board have mislead Wenger as to funds available,or he knew all along and has been giving the fans a load of spin.Quite frankly I don’t like either of these options.

  267. Irishgunner says:

Wenger has to come out after Saturday and say whether he is staying or going if this continues.

However, the full quote had said that it would be an “interesting project for any manager” but he was contracted to Arsenal.

I would have thought if he were to take any job it would have been the Bayern Munich one and he turned that one down two weeks ago.

  268. Rasputin says:

There aren’t enough french players in the RM side. Aw is nothing if not honourable. Does anyone think that if he went to RM he would try to lure away our best players like that barrow boy ‘Arry keeps doing wherever he goes?

  269. rico01 says:

At least Seaman came good at the right moment 😳

  270. Irishgunner says:

Would he go just to annoy Lassana Diarra? 😆

  271. Rasputin says:

Wash your mouth out rico…. 😆

  272. rico01 says:

He isn’t going anywhere you guys, when he leaves us, he will take on a national side and then retire – trust me, i’m a Dr 😉

  273. rico01 says:

Rasp – is that with salt….. water 😉

  274. Irishgunner says:

I’d hate it if he left now, he’s meant to go in 2011 having won the triple and squishing Ferguson – literally and metaphorically 😀

  275. Rasputin says:

I agree, I just can’t see him turning his back on the club. It is very touching when you hear ex players like PV and Bobby say how much they still love the Arsenal. I see Nasri has said how much he admires AW and that he’s not going anywhere.

  276. rico01 says:

I am off guys, going to do a welfare check on ave, as all is quiet on AR – he’s a good man you know

    catch you soon

  277. Irishgunner says:

    Bye Rico 🙂

  278. Rasputin says:

    rico… you’re disgraceful…. a gentleman like me can’t join in with such smutty inuendo… and you a veggie too… 🙂 🙂 🙂

  279. Rasputin says:

Ave is a top fellow rico I agree. We don’t like to talk about other sites unless its complimentary.

  280. rico01 says:

Rasp – you are a true Gent 🙂

    Nighty Night

  281. Rasputin says:

Have a good night rico – thanks for your company today 😉

  282. peachesgooner says:

    rasp 😆

  283. peachesgooner says:

Hi rico, bye rico – he knows we love him 🙂

  284. peachesgooner says:

rasp – I have to try and sort out my wireless for a while can you keep an eye open till I get back please?

  285. Irishgunner says:

Inter Milan are after RvP apparently 🙄

  286. peachesgooner says:

I thought it was Real Madrid that were after him – I’d like him to stay hes too good to let go

  287. Irishgunner says:

Everyone is after every Arsenal player according to the mighty

  288. peachesgooner says:

Well that just goes to show how fabulous they all are 😆

  289. peachesgooner says:

Irish – I have to go for a bit cos my lack of wireless is driving me mad. I’ll be about 40 minutes I think, catch you in a while

  290. Irishgunner says:

And the manager is off too, oh and our fans are bandwagon jumpers so will all be off too – we’ll be left with no-one

  291. Irishgunner says:

    Catch you then 🙂

  292. Rasputin says:

I like RVP and his game has developed this season (more assists), but he needs to be more consistent and he is definitely not strong enough to play up front in a 4:5:1 IMO. If Benzema was a remote possibilty, I would be prepared to let RVP go (I think???)

  293. Irishgunner says:

    Benzema 😀

  294. Rasputin says:

I think all this hysteria blaming a section of the fans for AW’s possible (but highly unlikely) departure is ridiculous. Like others have said already, it’s far more likely he will leave due to problems at Board level which are way beyond our compass.

  295. Irishgunner says:

If he’s taking the can for the Board and is tired of it because the board keep coming out saying we have tons of cash to splash that is why he’d leave as you said not because of a few fans.

  296. kelsey says:

I echo the thoughts of others,if you are out there ave and JJ please feel welcome to say hello.

I am off for the night folks, the time difference in Hartlepool and wherever is vast. xxx

  297. peachesgooner says:

Nite nite kelsey – this is really going to be the saga site if we don’t get some late night action 🙂

  298. Irishgunner says:

A saga site, late night action? 😯

  299. peachesgooner says:

Might not be the place for under 25’s irish 😉

  300. Irishgunner says:

    Not after dark perhaps 😕

  301. peachesgooner says:

I’ve got my wireless working hurrahhhh – a very nice man in India sorted it out for me – for as long as it lasts 🙂

Any more rumours about the place – the season isn’t even over yet!!!!!!!

  302. Irishgunner says:

Any rumours – Wenger is off to Real Madrid have you heard that one?

  303. peachesgooner says:

I have heard that he had lunch with Perez in Paris and then was flown to Madrid to meet all the training staff and met an estate agent and was shown some properties and did some shopping

  304. Rasputin says:

    Nite nite kelsey.

I must be out of sync with other bloggers – I rarely go to bed before midnight even though I have to be up at 6:45.

The Arsenal news seems to have dried up for the night. We’ll see what the poor hacks can spirit up for us all to pull apart tomorrow. (sorry Irish, I don’t mean to denigrate your profession)

  305. Irishgunner says:

I heard he and Perez had ice-cream while Wenger’s missus went and bought a house 😯

  306. Rasputin says:

I heard that Hleb was running the icecream stall because he’s not very busy elsewhere these days 🙂

  307. Irishgunner says:

Journalism isn’t my profession of choice Rasputin – complaining about journalists is 🙂

  308. Irishgunner says:

I heard Flamini was hired to put up the wallpaper on their new house in Madrid and Bentley will cut the lawns

  309. Irishgunner says:

    Traore scored for Pompey 🙂

  310. peachesgooner says:

Did he? Where was he playing mid-field?

  311. Rasputin says:

Its crazy when you think about it…. most of the players we sold/let go are fit but no-one wants them to play and a lot of those we want to play are injured… oh the irony 😉

  312. peachesgooner says:

Thats it – the experiment is actually to do with groin strains in footballers, nothing to do with youth 🙂

  313. peachesgooner says:

Dophin-head will tile the pool 🙂

  314. Irishgunner says:

Not sure just saw it on BBC text
    2149: GOAL Portsmouth 3-1 Sunderland
Seconds after Kenwyne Jones’ gilt-edged chance, it’s game over. John Utaka cuts in from the Pompey right and skips past a couple of challenges before sending Armand Traore into space down the left – he gets into the Sunderland box and drills a shot across Marton Fulop and into the far corner.

  315. peachesgooner says:

Do you think Traore will come back – he got a new contract in january i think – other discussions led to thoughts that the contract makes him more valuable and so he’d probably be sold.

    We don’t need another left-back 🙂

  316. Irishgunner says:

Wenger said Traore was coming back but he was unsure about Senderos as Milan have the option to buy him

  317. peachesgooner says:

Traore use to go out with my niece so I’m very attached to him – hes a sweetie.

Senderos could be the big lump of a defender we need – unless his confidence is still shot I’d like him to stay

  318. Irishgunner says:

“Senderos is in the hands of Milan because they can decide to pay the amount of transfer and keep him,” the manager explained at Thursday’s pre-match press conference.

    “But Armand will come back.”

  319. Irishgunner says:

Only another hour and a half til the “hand that rocks the cradle is on” 🙂

  320. peachesgooner says:

Thanks – but I didn’t think Milan had played him that much, he’s still not very old though is he?

  321. peachesgooner says:

…….and how many times have you seen? Its really creepy…….

  322. Irishgunner says:

Senderos is too young to play on a regular basis ha ha Paolo is retiring at 40 😯

I’ve not seen it yet, that’s why I’m looking forward to it – is it spooky?

  323. peachesgooner says:

Oh yes – you won’t want to have a nanny for your babies once you’ve seen it 😈

  324. Irishgunner says:

    I used to babysit….*cue evil laugh* 😈

  325. peachesgooner says:

Aha, so you’ve seen it from the other side – I was already a mummy when it was released………so it really spooked me 😦

  326. Irishgunner says:

Its meant to be creepy alright – bet I’ll never have a nanny for my future kids when I see it…..

Actually must tell me brother not to get a nanny for the nephew if its that bad 😕

  327. Rasputin says:

I’m off to bed myself now folks. Have a good evening and enjoy your film – hope it doesn’t give you nightmares…

  328. Irishgunner says:

If it doesn’t give me nightmares then its no good 😆

    Night Rasp 😀

  329. Rasputin says:

Just before I go Irish, have you seen ‘Don’t look now’ with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie (1973). I think its a classic thriller – one of those films that you see something new in every time you watch it.

  330. Irishgunner says:

I haven’t I must try and find it thanks for the heads up Rasp, I’ll check it out.

One of the best films I’ve seen is the film noir by Polanski with Jack Nicholson “Chinatown” excellent movie

  331. Rasputin says:

OK Irish – I’ll have a look for that one. Don’t look now is my favourite film of all time, and it doesn’t seem dated. The cinematography and use of the backdrop of Venice add to the tension. Don’t let anyone tell you the end before you see it!

  332. Irishgunner says:

    I won’t 🙂

I’ll check for it on, they have a sale on at the moment

  333. peachesgooner says:

Irish – thanks for blogging with us today, I’m sorry we’ve all deserted you now – I have to go to bed too.

Nite nite, catch up tmoro, enjoy (if thats the right word) the film 🙂

  334. Irishgunner says:

I must be off too see you tomorrow 😀

  335. kelsey says:

    Good Morning

Though I doubt anyone is up yet.

Traore came on at half time and Pompey changed to 4-4-2 formation.he played left midfield and made a significant difference.First game back after a long absence with (yes you guessed it) a groin strain.

  336. Big Raddy says:

Seems I missed a fine days blogging yesterday. Such are the pressures of ‘studenthood’.

Wonder what the papers will make up to titillate their readership today? Could we be signing a Belgian?

  337. Big Raddy says:

I just wrote a long and considered post, and it disappeared!

    Lots of swear words ensued.

Missed a fine days blogging yesterday. Shame.

  338. kelsey says:

    Morning Raddy,

no swear words allowed, according to the boss.

By the way re my earlier post Traore played more on the left flank, giving pompey more width.

  339. Rasputin says:

    Morning Raddy and Kelsey,

At least us blokes can get up early even if we don’t talk as much as the girls 😉

“Shareholders who criticised Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his players at a meeting last week were ”out of order”, according to Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood.”

The Board sghould make it’s mind up. If they’re running a profit based business, the shareholders have a right to ask difficult questions when things aren’t going well. It seems that the shareholders are expected to abide by the same rules as the fans. PHW really should be kept well away from the press.

  340. kelsey says:

I smell a rat or maybe more than one, chaps. Wenger is always regarded as a man of integrity, honest and thinks footbal 24/7.I mentioned 2 weeks ago that certain players believed the squad would be strengthened last Summer yet our net spend was about 4 million.I know RVP is leaving his options open, otherwise he would have signed by now.

If by some chance wenger were to leave, going against his principles, there would be no more of a mass exodus than if he stayed.

It is a fact that since Dein left Wenger’s character references of some players he has bought were not carefully scrutinized before hand.

i can only mention again that Wenger’s contract is up this summer with an optional 2 year role on.

We need a proper PR statement to at least tell the fans the direction the club is going, surely that’s the least we can expect.

I think the key is kroenke and hopefully we will get some positive action, not another year of maybe’s.
With regards to Wenger, never say never,we really don’t know what is going on.

  341. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Sorry raddy – I found your comment in ‘spam’, I don’t know why……

My car window has just fallen in again so I have to take it to the garage before it pours…….

kelsey – I reckon theres more chance of Wenger staying than getting a proper PR statement…..

  342. peachesgooner says:

rasp – are you happy now the normal balance has been restored – more blokes than girls 🙂

  343. Rasputin says:

You know me peaches, I always want to see a balanced team 😛

  344. rico01 says:

Excuse me, some of us girlies have been up since 6am !! 😉

    Morning all…

  345. peachesgooner says:

    In the Times today…..

‘He is particularly exasperated at the supporters’ failure to appreciate the financial constraints under which he must operate, a feeling that reached its height after he was subjected to criticism and aggressive questioning when he attended a meeting of the club’s shareholders last Thursday.’

Why do the supporters fail to appreciate this fact? Because the directors kept saying he had money to spend……poor Arsene, he needs to be really strong cos he is up there battling in his own…..

  346. peachesgooner says:

Hi rico – how are you

  347. rico01 says:

Morning peaches – not so bad thanks, you ??

Be glad when summer arrives – looking forward to the 20/20 cricket world cup and the one day matches against the windies, and then of course the ashes……

Plenty of cricket to help get through the transfer window 🙂

  348. Rasputin says:

    Cock-a-doodle-do rico 😉

  349. peachesgooner says:

    rasp – Road to Perdition?

  350. rico01 says:

    Hi-de-hi Rasp 😛

  351. Big Raddy says:

It’s interesting about players characters. Not all can be like TH/DB10 etc.

But what matters more is how they perform on the pitch. Lampard is an objectionable man, and I know for fact that his off-field persona is despicable, but he plays like a man possessed and always gives 100%. If he was at AFC, I would love him. As he is not – I detest the guy.

Which brings me to Ade. Stories of his ego, his retinue, his questionable sanity melt away when he scores on a weekly basis, but when he brings his arrogance onto the pitch, he loses any possibility of being loved.

Bendtner has the same arrogance, he says that he will become the best striker in the World and really believes it. He goes out and gets wasted after a game. He has a playboy reputation here in Denmark. However, I and many others really like him, and put his waywardness down to youth. Why? Because when he plays he gives everything he can to the team, and he has won over most of his doubters (even Rico!)

  352. rico01 says:

    Nearly Raddy, nearly 😉

  353. rico01 says:

Got to go for a fews hours, catch you all later

  354. Rasputin says:

Ade lost my respect when he kissed the badge after scoring that penalty in the Emirates cup following all the nonsense about pensions etc over the summer. I predicted he would do it before he scored. He must really underrate tthe intelligence of fans if he thought all would be forgiven the first time he scored.

  355. peachesgooner says:

Have to do the cars – back in a bit…..

  356. Rasputin says:

rico – next time you’re on, remind me to tell you my cricket story……..

  357. peachesgooner says:

I have to be a Garden Designer for a while…….morning Irish when you check in… did you enjoy the film……..check back in a while 🙂

  358. kelsey says:

I have to go to the beach now,but by the way what happened to the FA meeting meant to be on may12tt for the alleged spitting incident ?

  359. Irishgunner says:

Morning Peaches and everyone else – I’d seen the film before, at 1am in the morning and an hour into the film a light goes off “this looks familiar” 😕

  360. Rasputin says:

    Morning Irish, peachbums

I’ve just acquired a ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show so I’m off until a lot later. I think peaches is also going to be missing. It was a great day’s blogging yesterday, sorry I won’t be able to join in today. Have fun, I’ll catch up this evening……

  361. Irishgunner says:

If ye get time ye may have a look, it rambles a bit but then my mind is rambling cos I’ve no clue what is happening at our wonderful club

  362. rico01 says:

Irish – that is a good read, and I still live in the belief that the board have until now lied, and arsene never did have the money they suggested – now though, I think it is different, Americans dont like to lose, and now we have two of them at the helm…. 😛

In the words of Yazz – The only way is up

  363. kelsey says:

rico you will not believe it but Yazz lives down the road to me.Christ she is tall, her kid went to school with my 2 youngsters over here.

  364. kelsey says:

Samuel Etu is in london tonight,i am reliably informed…….

  365. Irishgunner says:

    Balague has on SSN.

“He says that talks between Wenger and Real Madrid have been ongoing for a week. He believes that Wenger has a deadline of Thursday to agree to become their new manager.

The deal includes pre-contract agreements for Alonso, Ribery and David Villa and on top of that he has a big purse to spend.

However he also believes that Wenger is now stalling and will probably stay at Arsenal.”

😆 what a ballbag – Arsene might stay or he might go, I’ll cover all areas but I have “sources”, idiot!!

  366. peachesgooner says:

Anyone about, just got in, weather was gorgeous and I’m shattered.

Just gonna read Irishs’ report 🙂

  367. Irishgunner says:

Hi Peaches – how was your day?

  368. peachesgooner says:

Hi Irish – lovely day thanks. Your article is a great read, I don’t think you left out any questions 🙂

The strangest thing is that so many of these questions were asked this time last year and through the summer and still we really have had no answers at all.

  369. peachesgooner says:

Many supporters have felt very let down by the club as obviously there are things going on behind the scenes and while we don’t have to know everything there must be some titbits of information that can help quell the unrest.

The worst for me was the board periodically coming out and saying that there was money for players because that to me was rubbish. It made Arsene look even more stubborn than we think he is and the board look foolish in trying to cover themselves in glory.

  370. Irishgunner says:

    That’s my gripe.

When they say that there is enough money to buy a £30million star they more than likely are leaving out the fact that there would be no money left for another player or contract renewals.

Where does PHW sit, in the Directors Box? He and I need a word 😈

P.S Thanks for reading the article guys

  371. Irishgunner says:

I’m off for the night guys – see ye tomorroe if ye are around.

  372. peachesgooner says:

Thanks Irish – see as I’m the boss lady I can change it to the right spelling – just don’t tell rasp 😆

Catch you tomoro I hope 😉

  373. peachesgooner says:

Morning kelsey – I found one of your comments in spam when I got home – were you just testing I’d done what I’d said 🙂 Its out now and I have altered the settings, when I altered it yesterday I forgot to save the changes 😦

  374. rico01 says:

Just letting you know that some of us are up and about, chickens fed and watered too 😉 😉 😉

    Morning all….

  375. kelsey says:

us being me and you rico,Good Morning.

So AW has until tomorrow morning to accept or decline the offer by Perez to manage RM.

More Media spin to further unsettle the club, however why doesn’t Wenger just come out and give a straight answer and say “I am staying”.
I watched for the first time the Q & A last night on Arsenal TV.
My opinion was that all the people who were allowed to ask questions referred to AW as a genious(sp) and regardless of the answer they got they just smiled and accepted it.It was all a bit too polite for me,and although it was edited,it left me with the feeling that we know no more about what is going on,than we did before.

  376. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

I’m up too, hope you are all well,

Chat amongst yourselves while I sort a new post 🙂

  377. kelsey says:

  378. Rasputin says:

    Morning peachbums…rico, kelsey, peaches….

I heard an unterview with Bob Wilson who chaired the Q&A session and he said that he didn’t know what all the fuss was about. Apart from one out of order remark about a particular player (guess who?) there was no unpleasantness and Arsene wasn’t upset. The ‘away fans’ quote was taken out of context.

They are saying on the radio that Arsene has said he is going nowhere although I haven’t found the source of that story yet.

  379. Rasputin says:

Hi kelsey…. is there a deeper meaning to your lyrical post today, or are you just having a general dig at the fat cats? 😉

  380. kelsey says:

    morning Rasp,
you can work it out in fact i think you have. The clue is in the title.

The player was Silvestre not Adebayor.

  381. Rasputin says:

This is brilliant. After having just posted above that I heard Bob Wilson say that its all a fuss about nothing, the Daily Mail has written this…..

“Arsenal legend Bob Wilson has warned “vindictive” Gunners shareholders who infuriated Arsene Wenger they are “playing with fire”.

Double-winning goalkeeper Wilson chaired last week’s stormy question-and-answer meeting at the Emirates where manager Wenger’s transfer policy and team strategy came under unprecedented fire.”

What a complete load of bollox (excuse me ladies)

….. if you were put in a locked room with a journalist, a tiger and a viper and you have a gun with only 2 bullets – which would you shoot…

…. shoot the ****ing journalist twice 👿

  382. Rasputin says:

Thanks kelsey, I hadn’t thought of Sylvestre…… actually that’s a bit harsh on him, he, at least did his best … just not the quality we need. I wouldn’t say he was lazy or had bad attitude though.

  383. Big Raddy says:

Loved that song Kelsey. What happened to Cockney? I was terribly upset by the waste of fantastic cars in the Italian job. Pushing them down a cliff was very un-Italian !

Ras. That Bob Wilson story shows the level of veracity in modern news. It really is true – you cannot believe what you read.

  384. Rasputin says:

Morning Raddy – wasn’t it Quincy Jones or someone equally unlikely that was wrote that song?

  385. rico01 says:

    Hi again all, been out..

So the boss is staying – that is good news for the start of the day

  386. Rasputin says:

Hi rico….. yes excellent news, but it was a good exercise for some who had been calling for him to leave to actually try to imagine who could come in and do a better job with the same set-up and resources don’t you think?

  387. rico01 says:

Hi Rasp – I honestly don’t think there is a better manager right now, Fergie aside, but he has had bucket loads of pennies to spend, where as we have had very little – but its good to know that at anytime those clubs who have spent trillions could go into serious financial problems – 😉

  388. Big Raddy says:

We are all agreed about AW then.

Ras. How was the Chavs Flower Show. I went about 5 years ago and it was bedlam. Couldn’t stop to look at things because the flow of people forced me onwards. Had to wait until late in the day to get the space to marvel at the exhibits. I would never go again.

My then Wife had some water-features for sale, and she did very well, so I guess that as a commercial venture it functions , but as for entertainment …. give me Springsteen any day !

  389. Rasputin says:

I agree rico, I can see how manu’s global brand makes them confident to live with such incredible debt…..but pool may not be such a stable guaranteed income to rely on. Having said that, if they survive the current economic crisis I suppose it proves that they are durable. God knows how they will fund a new stadium though?

  390. Big Raddy says:

Just checked RA, and you are right, the song was written by Quincy Jones.

    I am amazed.

  391. peachesgooner says:

Hiya, there is a NEW POST……

I’ll read through the comments from this morning if anyone wants me to move theirs to the new post I can.
